about

Me and Jenna go way back. We first met in 1st year of secondary school at Newpark Comprehensive when we were 12 or 13. We were in our first band together, "Acidic Ocean", along with Rory and Annelli and Colm. Did our first gig together in the school theatre in 4th year. We both studied jazz in Newpark and music technology in Trinity (although at different times). We have similar tastes in music. My brother Matthew plays drums in Jenna's band Berri.

We wrote "Sometimes" together remotely during a lockdown. Aisling Ennis contributed harp to it.

The clattering pots-and-pans sample throughout the track is me and Nick Roth banging on pots and pans with wooden spoons and metal things at Oak Park in Raheny (the house we lived in with Colm O'Hara and Lisa), circa 2001.

lyrics

sometimes you walk beneath the sycamore tree
sometimes your path is near and to be
wandering free is the best remedy

sometime yet to come
be ready when the time goes boom
it might come later or it might come soon

ZOiD Dublin, Ireland

ZOiD (Irish electronic musician and composer Daniel Jacobson) got into techno in the 90s, but then decided to learn jazz, so he did, and nearly got sucked in to a level-19 jazz black hole, but with a strong effort he escaped and returned to the land of electronic reptillion dancebeats with only the shadow of a trumpet's sax to remember the memory of a time when jazzmen blue horns. ... more
