Two of Irelands premier producers ZOiD & Meljoann have collaborated on two singles. The first of which is the interplanetary Portal.

The track, which wouldn’t feel out of place on Janelle Monae’s ‘Dirty Computer’ features co-production from both artists, who also wrote and arranged for a string quartet performed by Cora Venus-Lunney, Aoife Durnin and Ailbhe Mc Donagh.

Meljoann’s soaring vocal yearns to deliver a message of longing to a loved one, far away. Possibly in another dimension.

Through a mutual love for Sci-Fi, two worlds collide and the rising space-dust from the impact manifests itself in music, treating us to one of the best collaborative efforts of 2022.

The second single ‘Spacemission’ is set for release 10/06/22.

“This song is about imagining new technology, to bring a loved one closer to you. I imagined a gate, where you send your consciousness through a portal and into a surrogate cybernetic body. As ZOiD (Dan) and I are mad about sci-fi, I ended up writing two science fiction themed songs to his string section, and we fleshed out the arrangement and mix together”

“There aren’t any other songwriters I know with as much knowledge of harmony, production and instrumental skills as Meljoann. We had so much fun nerding over chord sequences and creating these two sci-fi stories in the form of short avant-pop-electro tunes.
