about

Fine Life features the amazing Irish jazz singer based in Co Clare, Aoife Doyle. It's kind of dystopian future jazz.

The song was written in 2020 after I found out that someone I went to school with had passed away after a battle with mental health issues. I was thinking about it for a few days and wasn't sure what else I could do, so I wrote a song to remember him and his struggles.

lyrics

They run by
I can't sleep
Tortured souls
meant to keep
me awake
and you asleep
normal life
is beyond reach

Try my best
to ignore
kids outside
shout back my thoughts
hard to know
if they are real
real or not
I hope they stop

It's a fine life
in my dreams
'til they fall
and then it seems
like a star
exploding

ZOiD Dublin, Ireland

ZOiD (Irish electronic musician and composer Daniel Jacobson) got into techno in the 90s, but then decided to learn jazz, so he did, and nearly got sucked in to a level-19 jazz black hole, but with a strong effort he escaped and returned to the land of electronic reptillion dancebeats with only the shadow of a trumpet's sax to remember the memory of a time when jazzmen blue horns. ... more
